Job Summary: 

The Medical Clinic Healthcare Compliance Officer oversees all compliance activities within the medical clinic, ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks associated with non-compliance. This position collaborates with clinic staff to promote a culture of compliance, conducts audits and investigations, provides training on compliance-related matters, and serves as a liaison with regulatory agencies. By staying abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices, the Healthcare Compliance Officer ensures the clinic operates ethically and efficiently while safeguarding patient confidentiality and quality of care. This position will be 100% Onsite in Gillette, WY.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and protocols tailored to the specific needs of the medical clinic.
  2. Reviews policies and procedures, clinical and non-clinical, company-wide.
  3. Serves as the HIPAA Privacy Officer; oversee medical record request process
  4. Oversees third-party billing audits to ensure compliance with relevant rules and regulations.
  5. Conducts internal audits to ensure compliance with Stark, Anti-kickback, Conflicts of Interest, Fraud, Waste and Abuse, and other relevant laws and regulations.
  6. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and areas for improvement, including billing and coding practices, patient privacy, and quality of care.
  7. Collaborate with clinic management and staff to address compliance issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  8. Monitor changes in healthcare laws and regulations, updating policies and procedures accordingly to maintain compliance.
  9. Investigate allegations of non-compliance, including incidents of fraud, waste, or abuse, and take appropriate disciplinary or corrective measures.
  10. Provide training and education to clinic staff on compliance-related topics, such as HIPAA regulations, fraud prevention, and documentation requirements.
  11. Maintain documentation of compliance activities, including audit findings, investigations, training sessions, and policy updates.
  12. Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, responding to inquiries, requests for information, and audits.
  13. Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as legal counsel, professional organizations, and industry associations, to stay informed of best practices and emerging compliance issues.
  14. Prepare reports for clinic management and governing bodies on compliance activities, trends, and outcomes.
  15. Lead or participate in compliance committees and initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of compliance and ethical behavior within the clinic.
  16. Stay current on industry trends and developments in healthcare compliance through ongoing professional development and networking.


  1. Must have a law degree , Bachelor's degree/Master’s in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field. 
  2. Must work on onsite, this is not a hybrid or remote position.
  3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance, preferably in a clinic or outpatient setting.
  4. Certification in healthcare compliance (e.g., FACHE, HCCA, CHC, CHPC) preferred.
  5. Experience with Medicare/Medicaid, billing, coding, preferred
  6. Thorough understanding of healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, and Medicare/Medicaid regulations.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and influence staff at all levels of the organization.
  9. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  10. Proficiency in using compliance software and tools for tracking, reporting, and documentation purposes.
  11. Leadership abilities, including the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and drive change.
  12. Commitment to maintaining a high standard of ethical conduct and integrity in healthcare operations.
  13. Ability to adapt to a dynamic healthcare environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
