Job Description
Are you an experienced tax professional looking for a dynamic role where you can make an impact? We're seeking a dedicated Senior Tax Professional with at least six years of public accounting and tax experience. In this role, you'll primarily work on compilation/review and tax engagements, offering flexible remote work options to fit your lifestyle.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee tax-related processes and lead a team.
- Prepare and review personal, corporate, estate, and trust tax returns, including complex cases.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all tax returns, addressing specialized issues as needed.
- Review tax accruals and associated documentation.
- Ensure the smooth processing of tax returns.
- Serve as the main point of contact for a variety of clients and engagements.
- Discuss and bill clients for fees.
- Conduct complex tax planning, including BNA projections.
- Analyze IRS notices and draft responses, and review responses prepared by others.
- Represent clients before the IRS.
- Stay updated on tax developments and communicate them to the firm.
- Perform complex tax research and review research projects by others.
- Support accounting and auditing staff in client meetings.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to tax staff, senior tax accountants, and tax supervisors.
- Contribute to departmental projects and help establish standards for the tax staff.
- Act as a resource for tax staff and managers.
- Deliver high-quality work with quick turnaround and attentive service.
- Build strong working relationships with directors and staff members.
Additional Responsibilities
- Exhibit strong time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate expertise in the industry.
- Assist in recruiting and training tax department personnel.
- Develop an entrepreneurial approach to client service and build relationships with clients.
- Network with peers, engage with prospective clients, and cultivate referrals.
- Write articles, make presentations, and stay informed on economic, political, and business conditions.
- Volunteer in community organizations and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
- Advanced degree (e.g., law degree or master's in taxation) preferred.
- CPA certification required.
- At least six years of relevant public accounting, tax, and review experience (experience with trusts is a plus).
- Minimum of two years of management experience with the ability to lead and develop professional staff.
- Proficiency in tax software programs (e.g., Document, Engagement, CCH Suite - Axcess Tax, QuickBooks).
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and prioritize tasks effectively.
