Why We're Hiring:
We founded this company two decades ago with a mission to help people find natural solutions for their health challenges. My frustration with the traditional pharmaceutical system inspired me to create a company focused on alternative health solutions. While we have accomplished many of our goals, there is still much work to be done. We need someone to elevate our finance and accounting function, ensuring we have the right financial planning, controls, systems, and policies to support our continued growth—and that's where you come in.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience managing monthly budgets exceeding $1 million in paid media and a proven ability to scale operations while maintaining financial discipline. You should be comfortable with key metrics such as ROAS (Return on Ad Spend), CVR (Conversion Rate), CPA (Cost Per Acquisition), AOV (Average Order Value), and churn to make informed strategic decisions that maximize lifetime value (LTV).
A strong understanding of inventory accounting is crucial, including the ability to select the appropriate policies (LIFO, FIFO, etc.) and reconcile sales data with physical inventory counts. You should also be proficient in building detailed cash flow forecasts that consider the effects of various historical customer cohorts.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Growth Strategy (25%): Lead the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts; analyze variances; and assess financial performance to align with company goals.
Financial Analysis (25%): Collaborate with the business intelligence team to analyze reports, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to enhance business modeling and forecasting accuracy.
Operational Finance (25%): Oversee daily financial operations, including accounting, payroll, billing, and reporting; ensure compliance with GAAP and legal regulations; and mentor a high-performing team.
Communication (25%): Work closely with the leadership team to share financial updates and contribute to strategic decision-making.
What Success Looks Like Initially:
As our business evolves, your initial objectives and challenges will include:
Developing Financial Forecasting Models: Create robust financial models that provide accurate predictions for revenue and expenses, enabling proactive decision-making.
Strengthening Accounting Controls: Assess current processes, identify weaknesses, and implement enhancements to ensure compliance and mitigate financial risks.
Enhancing Financial Reporting: Improve reporting processes to provide timely, accurate information while meeting GAAP requirements and delivering actionable insights.
Streamlining Month-End Close: Optimize the month-end close process to enhance efficiency and visibility into financial performance.
Requirements:
Experience: Proven hands-on experience in direct-to-consumer and/or e-commerce finance, particularly in consumer products or food/beverage sectors, with a focus on high-scale paid media ($500,000 - $1,000,000 in monthly ad spend).
Operational Accounting: Over 10 years of experience in transaction recording, inventory accounting, payroll, month-end close, and financial reporting.
Operational Finance: A decade of experience in financial planning and analysis, budget development, cash flow management, and providing actionable insights.
Data-Driven: Comfortable analyzing data across various platforms to identify trends and opportunities.
Excellence-Driven: A natural owner with a relentless drive for excellence that inspires others.
Systems-Oriented: Ability to create organized systems that leverage technology for sustained success.
Team Leader: A humble, authentic leader who knows how to recruit, train, and build a world-class team while embodying a player/coach mentality.
If you're ready to take on this exciting challenge and make a significant impact, we'd love to hear from you!
